How did you get started in the technology sector?
A friend! I was a stay at home mom and looking to get back into the work force when I had lunch with a long-time friend, Beth Briner Smith, that had been in technology for years. She knew that I had been a successful salesperson in a previous career and that I was a hard worker, so she recommended me for a role at Corus360. I went in completely green and knew nothing about technology or IT staffing. It has been like drinking from a fire hose from day one, but it’s been interesting!
What is the greatest advancement in technology you’ve seen during your career?
The continued expansion and growth of different career paths in areas like DevOps, AI, Data Science, and Application Development. The expansion of services opportunities is also astounding. Overall, the need for resources and services continues to rise, and it isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
What career accomplishments would you like to highlight?
• Learning about the technology in my customers’ environments and acquiring the knowing to understand their needs was a big win!
• Every time I am able to help someone grow in their career, I’m humbled and grateful to be a part of that journey.
• The chance to evangelize and grow our Talent team throughout the Converge family has been incredible.
What is your favorite part about working in technology?
It’s always moving at a rapid pace and there is rarely a dull moment!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love being outside, spending time with my family (though with two kids out of the house and one in high school they don’t’ really want to be with me, so it’s usually just me and my husband!), and drinking wine with my girlfriends. Any day on a beach is a great day for me.
